Sinking Procedures - unknown cause
If there is a collision - refer to Collision Procedures
- Ring Bell - All hands call out "All Hands Sinking Procedures"
Cockpit Crew
- Shut down engine if source of water is unknown
- Heave-to if possible, otherwise, keep sailing
- Check Cockpit drains and rudder shaft
- Begin pumping with emergency hand pump
Cabin Crew
- Grab flashlight
- Check all seacocks and through hulls
- Shut the seacocks as you check
- Assemble emergency hand pump and begin pumping (keep intake clear & don't stop)
- Check Keel bolts
- Look and listen for water ingress due to hull breach
- check through hulls above water line (holding tank vent, engine exhaust, bilge pump outlet, etc)
- Grab Mask, regulator and tank and begin looking for hull breach from outside
- If wather level is not going down, start engine
- Make sure electric bilge pump is working
- If water is over aft cabin bed, commence Abandon Ship Procedures

2 - Galley Sink Seacock
3 - Head Intake Seacock
4 - Port Cockpit Drain
5 - Starboard Cockpit Drain
6 - Rudder Shaft
7 - Propeller Shaft
8 - Speed/Depth Transducers
