Collision Procedures (hull breach)
Ring Bell - "All Hands, Collision Procedures"
Cockpit Crew
- Heave to - preferable raising the side that the hull breach is on
- Start Engine
- If there is water coming in, begin pumping
Cabin Crew
- Crew #1: Setup emergency hand pump - one crew start pumping (if water is present)
- Crew #2: Make sure electric pump is working
- Crew #3: Find crack or hole, plug with foot, hand, shirt, blanket, pillow, cushion, whatever fits
Effect Repairs
This Occurs after the leak is found and has been temporarily 'plugged' as described above. The idea is to seal the outside first with underwater epoxy and then make a 'permanent' repair from the inside. There is plywood and fiberglass matt in the breach kit along with epoxy to make a permant repair from the inside.

In Water Repair
- Don non-inflating harness
- Get mask, snorkle, fins, tank/regulator
- Attach to boat with heaving line
- Attach suction cup handles to side of boat for handholds
- Mix underwater epoxy - equal parts hardner and epoxy
- Stuff in crack using platic putty knife
- If crack is more like a 'hole' you can soak a sponge with epoxy and try that
